PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear transmission for preventing oil leakage from an air breather with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: This gear transmission is integrally provided with an insertion part 11 with a shaft-like driving member 22 for driving a shift-and-select shaft 21 for selecting shift gear trains inserted therein on the inner side of an outer wall of a housing 10 storing the plurality of shift gear trains. A through hole 11a communicated with the outside of the housing 10 is formed in the upper side of the insertion part 11. The air breather 12 for adjusting the internal pressure in the housing 10 is fitted in the through hole 11a. An inner end part of the air breather 12 is disposed in the through hole 11a close to the driving member 22 without contact therewith. A through hole 11b communicated with the inside of the housing 10 is formed at the position facing the through hole 11a below the insertion part 11.
