PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion joint for a bridge capable of recognizing a condition in which a rubber material covering a steel plate for fixation is peeled off from the steel plate for fixation. SOLUTION: In this expansion joint for the bridge constituted in such a way that a central rubber part G1 and end rubber parts G2, G2 arranged on both sides in the direction of bridge axis are mutually linked and integrated by shear deformation rubber parts G3, respectively, at least one steel plate 1 for supporting load and the steel plate 2 for fixation are buried in the central rubber part G1 and the end rubber parts G2, respectively, and the steel plate 2 for fixation buried in the end rubber parts G2 is fixed on bridge girders H, H or mounting faces formed on the bridge girders and a bridge base by anchor, the central rubber part G1, the end rubber parts G2, G2, and the shear deformation rubber parts G3 are constituted by electrically conductive rubber to measure the condition of peeling off of the rubber material covering the steel plate 2 for fixation as changes of resistance between the end rubber parts G2 and G2.
