PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the stoppage of operation of an air conditioner caused by communication abnormality. SOLUTION: In the air conditioner 10 where an outdoor unit 11 and a plurality of indoor units 12 are connected with each other by communication wiring 13 and the controller 14 of the above outdoor unit is so constituted as to stop the operation of the outdoor unit and the indoor units, judging that communication abnormality has occurred when the situation of communication between the outdoor unit and the indoor units got over a judgment criterion of communication abnormality, the above controller of the outdoor unit transmits a test signal between the outdoor unit and the indoor units, and judges the communication circumstances of the site where these outdoor unit and the indoor units are installed thereby changing the judgment criterion of the above communication abnormality.
