1,057,542. Coupling eyes. GOTE EINAR ERLING BLOMBERG. March 20, 1964 [March 30, 1963], No. 11993/64. Heading D1T. A rigid eye 3 has its two ends 6 extending side by side and cranked such that the eye 3 lies in a plane inclined to said two ends. Coupled to said ends is a quay hawser 1 having a loop 2 for making fast to a bollard. A ships mooring wire 4 can have its looped end 5 passed through the eye 3, the loop 2 being then passed through the looped end 5 to unite the mooring wire 4 and the hawser 1 in the manner shown in the Figure. The arrangement is such that when the wire 4 and the hawser 1 are subjected to tension the eye 3 permits them to lie approximately in line. A reinforcing plate 7 on the eye 3 is shaped such that a tongue 8 thereof can overlie the looped end 5. The tongue 8 can be deformed by hammer blows to trap the looped end 5. |
