PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow an expert user to quickly and efficiently interact in a speech- based interface system. SOLUTION: This categorized speech-based interface system is provided with a prompt delivering system for delivering prompts to users. The prompts comprise at least a full prompts and a tapered prompts. The interface system farther comprises structure for determining the quantity of at least one of correct response and an incorrect response to the prompts. This prompt delivering system delivers the tapered prompts in response to the determination of a quantity of at least one of correct response and incorrect response. This prompt delivering system delivers the tapered prompts as much as possible, and when the user does not properly respond to the tapered prompts, this prompt distributing system delivers the full prompts, and when the user does not properly respond to the full prompts, this system automatically delivers help prompts.
