PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible magnetic recording medium, the track width of which is made to be around 1-3μm and the track control of which can be performed satisfactorily. SOLUTION: The accuracy of the track control is enhanced, by arranging magnetic patterns 10 carrying respective servo signals on the guard bands G formed on both sides of a data track D of this magnetic recording medium 2 and continuously servo-controlling the patterns 10.
