PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synthetic method capable of obtaining anα-sulfonyloxy carbonyl compound in a safer and easier manner in higher yield than a conventional method in the following situations: anα-sulfonyloxy carboxyl compound is widely used as an intermediate in heterocycle synthesis, or the like; recently, a method for obtaining anα-sulfonyloxy carboxyl compound by generating a sulfonyloxy group-introducing agent in a reaction system is energetically studied; however, the reaction conditions are limited, and it has problems in safety aspect, and accordingly, the process can not be easy for every one. SOLUTION: This new method for introducing a sulfonyloxy group comprises a reaction of a hypervalent iodine compound of an aromatic heterocyclic type and sulfonic acid in a system for introducing a sulfonyloxy group into theα-position of a carbonyl compound.
