PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide facsimile equipment which efficiently uses a memory and is user-friendly by further improving facsimile equipment having an automatic line-density function. SOLUTION: This facsimile equipment is provided with an indication means which detects the optimum resolution making it possible to maintain nearly the same quality as image quality obtained with read resolution optionally set in advance and indicates that an operator needs to confirm whether transmission with the optimum resolution is allowed when the optimum resolution is detected and sends image data of the optimum resolution to a desired transmission destination when the transmission of the optimum resolution is allowed.
