PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a protection block capable of improving conveyance efficiency and efficiency of assembly work at a construction site, preventing the breakage of a material, and reducing various costs such as transportation cost while ensuring safety. SOLUTION: This protection block 1 for steel structure (hereinafter referred to as the protection block 1 merely) is constituted in such a way that its framework is constituted by a pair of right and left horizontal plate members 3 to 6 attached to a support column 2 and both sides of the support column 2 and a long foundation 7 with which the support column 2 is detachably connected, a pair of right and left upper part side plate 8 and lower part side plate 9 and one set of connection plates 10, 11 are attached to the horizontal plate members 3 to 6 and the long foundation 7, and its upper part is constituted by attaching a lid plate 12 to the horizontal plate member 3. All of the support column 2, the horizontal plate members 3 to 6, the long foundation 7, the upper part side plate 8, the lower part side plate 9, the connection plates 10, 11, and the lid plate 12 are made of steel. An internal space 20 is formed in the protection block 1 constituted by them and is filled with sediment and steel chips when installing the protection block 1.
