PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of surface treating a copper member in order to prevent the pitting corrosion, by forming an adequately corrosion-resistant oxide film on the surface of the copper member being in contact with a water system. SOLUTION: This method is characterized by forming the corrosion-resistant oxide film on the surface of the copper member, by adding an isothiazolone- based compound and/or a metal complex salt thereof, into the water system which comes into contact with the surface of the copper member and does not substantially include an anticorrosive agent for copper.
