PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a player to produce tones as clear as possible by making members string picking pick the strings in forward movement and not pick the strings in backward movement. SOLUTION: The device for producing tone by picking the two extended strings G are provided with a pair of picks 3 which are disposed to make both sides of the two strings G respectively movably back and forth and pick the strings corresponding to the forward movement and driving means 10 which moves a pair of the picks 3 back and forth, moves the picks 3 along the forward moving track to pick the strings G in the forward movement of the picks 3 and moves the picks 3 along the backward track not to pick the strings G in the backward movement of the picks 3.
