PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image input device which does not require a sensor for film recognition, an optical path switching mirror driving motor and control thereof, can easily hold an optical path switching mirror without applying overload as well and can reduce a space therefor. SOLUTION: In the image input device having a lamp 39, a driving roller 22 for carrying an APS film 2a and an imaging device 10 as a representative configuration, this device has a film detecting lever 47 to be displaced with the carrying of the APS film 2a, an optical path switching mirror 7 which exists on an optical path C between the APS film 2a and the imaging device 10, for switching image information from the APS film 2a to the imaging device 10 and an interlock lever 49 for displacing the optical path switching mirror 7 between a position to turn on the image information from the APS film 2a to the imaging device 10 and a position to turn off the image information, and the interlock lever 49 is controlled by the film detecting lever 47.
