PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric carpet, in which a user's inconvenience in his/her selection of function is eliminated, and function of receiving signals of a remote control is provided without unevenness in the appearance of a flat temperature controller in the constitution easy and inexpensive. SOLUTION: The electric carpet 1 comprises a planar heating unit 2, a flat housing 3 having an upper face almost parallel with the heating unit 2 attached to the edge of the unit 2, and a temperature controller having an electric circuit in the inside of the housing 3. A signal intake part 6 is provided in a shell 5 of the housing 3. A photo-detector 7 is placed in the housing 3 for receiving signals sent from the remote control through the part 6. In the carpet, there are added control functions of on/off switching of the heating unit 2 and temperature control based on signals from the photo-detector 7.
