PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce fuel expenses, in a steam supply method utilizing waste heat of a private power generation system, by preventing substantially constant operation of a backup boiler and thus lowering operating ratio. SOLUTION: Steam is generated by a waste heat boiler by utilizing waste heat from a turbine for private power generation. The backup boiler is connected to a steam line of the waste heat boiler through a steam header. The pressure of the steam header is set at a certain pressure which is lower than the pressure of the steam line of the waste heat boiler. In the case where the load imposed on the steam line of waste heat is raised to allow the pressure therein to be lower than the pressure in the header, steam is supplied from the backup boiler.
