1,107,551. Combine-harvesters. MASSEYFERGUSON-PERKINS Ltd. 26 Feb., 1965 [3 March, 1964], No. 8815/64. Heading A1F. A rear-beater, for a combine-harvester, comprises a rotor having a series of axially-extending blade-like members 17 circumferentially spaced around it, each member having a plurality of alternativelyusable crop-engaging edges and being adjustable on the rotor so that a selected one of these edges is in use at one time. As shown in Fig. 5, the members 17 are arcuate and have two alternative longitudinal edges one of which is serrated. Each member is mounted on a rod 22 which passes through a plate 25 slotted into an end-disc 15 and terminates in an enlarged head 24, the portion of the rod passing through the block being of rectangular section so that the rod cannot rotate when tightened by a turnbuckle 29, and when a pin 27 carried by the plate 25 enters a corresponding hole in the end-disc 15. To bring the other edge into use the assembly is released from the end-discs by loosening the turnbuckle and inverted both about the axis of the rod and end-for-end, and then replaced in the end-discs. Each member 17 may have more than two alternative edges. |
