PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite catalyst capable of efficiently decomposing dioxins and an aliphatic organohalogen compound becoming a precursor of dioxins such as an aromatic organohalogen compound, trichloroethylene, dichloromethane or the like discharged from a refuse incinerator or the like. SOLUTION: The composite catalyst for decomposing the organohalogen compound is obtained by supporting a compound of at least one kind of a transition metal selected from Ni, Mn, Co, Zr and V on the surface of a hydrated iron oxide powder having a mean particle size of 0.01-2.0 μm and containing 0.02 wt.% or less phosphorus, 0.3 wt.% or less of sulfur and 0.3 wt.% or less of sodium or the surfaces of iron oxide particles in an amount of 1-30 mol% with respect to Fe. |
