PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording material in an optical recording medium appli cable to an additional write type DVD system employing a semiconductor laser having an oscillating wavelength shorter than the short wavelength employed in the conventional system, especially the optical recording medium excellent in light resistance and storage stability especially when a squalilum compound is employed, and also to provide an optical recording method and an optical recording device employing thereof. SOLUTION: In the optical recording medium formed by providing a recording layer on a board, the recording layer includes at least each one kind of a squalilum metal chelate compound consisting of a squalilum compound and a metal, and of an azo metal chelate compound consisting of an azo compound represented by general formula I and a metal, wherein A and B respectively and independently represent a residue forming an aromatic cycle or a heterocycle having together a carbon atom combined therewith and being allowable to have a substituent, and X represents a substituent having an active hydrogen group.
