PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To downsize a pump for feeding a chemical and also reduce consumption of the chemical compared with a prior art by not supplying the chemical to a water reservoir for heating or sterilization and supplying the chemical only to a water reservoir for cooling where a liquid or a gas shrinks. SOLUTION: The apparatus for disposing of containers includes a carry conveyer 4 provided in a can 9 for carrying a container 3, a water reservoir 14 for heating, water reservoirs for cooling 15, 16 and 17 which are provided below the conveyer 4 and sprinkling nozzles 18, 19, 20 and 21 provided above the conveyer 4 for sprinkling water from the reservoirs 14, 15, 16 and 17 onto the container 3 on the conveyer 4 for sprinkling the water on the carried container 3 to perform a predetermined heat treatment. The apparatus is equipped with a chemical supply means for supplying the chemical to the sprinkled water for cooling, and thus the method for disposing of the containers is provided.
