PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of color sensor solution wherein multiple colors substantially consisting of infinite combinations are quickly, accurately, and apparently detected, and/or the detection is not affected by the other light source, and/or waste of a ribbon during the detecting operation is effectively prevented. SOLUTION: The ribbon has a core. A printer is loaded with the ribbon having the core with a color code band. The presence or absence of the ribbon is detected by detecting the color code band. The coded signal of the color code band is decoded to set a parameter of the printer corresponding to the coded signal.
