PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a thermal printer that since a thermal sheet must be pressed against the heaters of a thermal head, a compression spring and a platen are indispensable structural components bottlenecking the saving of components and size reduction and that since a thermal roll sheet must be placed on the outside of the printer, extra space for placing the thermal roll sheet is required. SOLUTION: Springs are provided on the housing of a thermal printer and a thermal roll sheet is fixed to the forward end of the springs so that the thermal sheet can be pressed directly toward heaters and the thermal roll sheet can be contained in the housing. Furthermore, a head is secured by the grasping mechanism of the housing and the thermal sheet is pressed directly against the head. Since a compression spring and a platen in the rear of the head conventionally required for pressing the thermal sheet against the heaters are not required, the size and the thickness can be reduced furthermore while saving the components.
