PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a garbage treatment apparatus capable of enhancing the detection accuracy of penetration water and capable of certainly detecting penetration water when water is allowed to flow in a garbage decomposition tank by mistake to prevent the penetration of water into the garbage decomposition tank. SOLUTION: The garbage treatment apparatus is equipped with the garbage decomposition tank 9 arranged under a sink 3 and having a charging port 15 for garbage and treating garbage charged from the charging port 15 and a control unit 100 for treating garbage. An electrode 70 for detecting penetration water is disposed on the lower side in the garbage decomposition tank 9 and the electric connection part 3b electrically connected to the sink 3 is attached and the control unit 100 has a penetration water detection means 40 for detecting the potential across the electrode 70 and the electric connection part 3b when the charging port 15 is opened to detect the penetration of water into the garbage decomposition tank 9.
