Apparatus for high speed application of pronged anchor clips to furniture rails comprises a frame assembly 16, a rail support having a surface 60 along which a furniture rail (14, fig 1A) can be advanced, and a clipping station 26 at which the anchor clips are applied to the rail. A fastener power tool (32, fig 11) is provided at the clipping station, and includes a housing (42, fig 11), and a drive rod (38, fig 11) actuated by pressurized air for high speed linear reciprocating travel in the housing. A ram (36, fig 11) is connected to the drive rod, which engages the clips (see figs 28 to 35) and drives the prongs of the clips into the furniture rail. A clip sensing assembly 28 may be provided downstream of the clipping station, and may be mounted for parallel and/or transverse movement with respect to the direction of advancement of the furniture rail. |
