PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To align the record starting position of each color without requiring any adjustment. SOLUTION: After the forward end of a color thermal recording material is detected by means of a sensor, the color thermal recording material is carried by a specified amount in the sheet feed direction. Subsequently, the carrying direction is altered to the opposite print direction and a yellow image is color recorded in a print region. A pixel of gray level '0' is regarded as a pixel of gray level '1' and the print region is entirely color recorded with at least the lowest density. After the yellow thermal coloring layer is fixed optically, the edge of a print region color recorded with an yellow image is detected by means of a sensor, record starting position of a magenta image is aligned with the edge of the print region, and the print region is entirely color recorded with at least the lowest density. After the magenta thermal coloring layer is fixed optically, the edge of a print region color recorded with the yellow and magenta images is detected by means of a sensor, record starting position of a cyan image is aligned with the edge of the print region, and the print region is entirely color recorded with at least the lowest density. |
