The invention relates to a procedure and an apparatus for the installation o f an elevator in which, at least one suspension element is fixed to the upper part of the elevator shaft, to which is fitted a suspension means used for supporting a shaft equipment during installation. The suspension means is mounted on the suspension element usin g a mounting tool from the top floor landing.
