PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure characteristics of a roller in sheet conveyance stoppage and sheet conveyance resumption by the roller. SOLUTION: A sheet is conveyed by a roller RA, conveyance of the sheet is stopped at a position 2 between a sensor SA and a sensor SB, the conveyance of the sheet is resumed after passage of a predetermined time TB 5, and a time TA is measured from the time 4 the sensor SA detects an end part of the sheet to the time 6 the sensor SB detects the end part of the sheet.
