PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chuck device for a cutting tool capable of transmitting high torque to the cutting tool. SOLUTION: A group of rollers 51, 51...51 supported by retainers 50 are interposed to fit an outer tapered surface of a collet 20 and an inner tapered surface of a chuck cylinder 14. The collet 20 has a regular hexagonals transverse section, and roller contact faces 52, 52...52 are formed corresponding to each side of the collet at a side of the chuck cylinder 14. Each roller contact face 52 is slightly inclined to an axis, and clearance grooves 53 are formed at its both sides. Each roller contact face 52 is provided with the rollers 51, 51...51 arranged at equal intervals along the longitudinal direction, and these rollers 51 are supported by the retainers 50. The retainer 50 has a claw member 54 at its upper end, and the claw member 54 locks on the upper end of a tapered hole 14d of the chuck cylinder 14 to prevent the retainer from being downwardly dropped.
