PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volume-reducing apparatus for plastics capable of reliably crushing wastes of large size and solid plastics such as marine floats and reducing the volume at a high efficiency. SOLUTION: The volume-reducing apparatus for plastics is provided with a treatment chamber 2 for crushing plastics fed from a hopper and decreasing the volume of the plastics, a rotary shaft 8 in which a crushing arm for crushing the plastics and screw blades 7 for sending the plastics forward are installed, crushing plates 9 arranged at a prescribed gap in the vertical direction to the rotary face of the crushing arm so as to avoid interference between the crushing arm and themselves, and a tapered pressurizing cylinder 10 surrounding the screw blades 7 in the front end part of the rotary shaft 8. In such an apparatus, a crushing portion 8B of the rotary shaft in which the crushing arm is formed is made to have a larger diameter and a pressurizing portion 8C in the pressurizing cylinder 10 is made to have a smaller diameter. |
