The aqueous base suspension concentrate comprises at least one ionophore antibiotic in an aqueous system containing: a) a wetting and/or surfactant agent; b) at least one antifreeze agent in which the at least one ionophore antibiotic is no more than sparingly soluble; c) a suspension agent; d) optional ingredients chosen from an antifoam agent or system, sorbitol as the de-bittering agent, a preservative and a pH buffering system and e) water provided that a) the wetting and/or surfactant agent is not alkyl polyglycoside, b) that the antifreeze agent is not a glycol and c) the suspension agent is not xanthan gum. The concentrate is capable of aqueous dilution is desired and (with or without aqueous dilution) capable of being orally administered to an animal such as by drenching.
