PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communication unit with ease of installation works and high reliability, that uses an optical fiber which does not need countermeasures against an indirect lightning stroke with a light weight between an indoor unit and an outdoor unit. SOLUTION: The wireless communication unit 100 of this invention is separated into an indoor unit 10 and an outdoor unit 30 and conducts wireless communication with an opposite station via an antenna of the outdoor unit. In this case, the optical fiber 20 interconnects the indoor unit 10 and the outdoor unit 30 for transmission reception of signals and power. The indoor unit 10 superimposes a transmission optical signal on a high output laser with an optical energy equivalent to the power and transmits a resulting hybrid optical signal to the outdoor unit via the optical fiber 20. The outdoor unit 30 separates the transmission optical signal and the high-output laser, generates a transmission signal from the transmission optical signal and transmits the transmission signal from an antenna, generates power from the high output laser for supplying power to each section of the outdoor unit. The transmission reception of the signal and the power of the optical medium is hardly affected by the disturbance of an electromagnetic wave generating source, such as lightning, and the unit 100 is also small and light weight and its installation work is easy. |
