PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone equipment, capable of conducting mail transmission at a desired time, by enabling only mail forming and editing functions of an operation without radiation of an electromagnetic waves, at a place which is inhibited or limited of the radiation of the waves. SOLUTION: The portable telephone equipment can form and edit the mail as well as can transmit and receive the mail. The telephone equipment comprises a means, having a mail forming mode for enabling application of power, in a state having no radiation of the waves and the formation of the mail and capable of processing to form and edit the mail, in a stat which inhibits radiation of the waves, when the mail forming mode is selected; a means for continuing the inhibiting state of the radiation of the wave, while the processing of forming and editing the mail is continued; and a means for eliminating the inhibiting state of the radiation of the wave, after the processing of forming and editing the mail is finished and returning to a mail transmissions enabling state.
