PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic notice board system and method capable of extracting a forbidden word which can not be extracted in a conventional manner. SOLUTION: This electronic notice board system is provided with a forbidden word data base, a message data base, a message accepting means for receiving a message from a user terminal, a buffer storing means for calculating the position coordinates of characters in the received message, and for storing the message and the size and position coordinates of the characters, a forbidden word retrieving means for extracting at least one crossing character existing on a preliminarily decided angular line from the characters in the message stored in the buffer storing means, and for comparing the crossing character with the forbidden word stored in the forbidden word data base, and a message registering means for storing the message in the message data base when any forbidden word is not included in the message as the compared result in the forbidden word retrieving means.
