PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet type synchronous motor, having magnetic pole structure which can improve maximum torque remarkably by increasing magnetic flux density of the air gap between an armature and an inductor. SOLUTION: The permanent magnet type synchronous motor is equipped with the armature 1, having a plurality of magnetic poles 16 arranged at the tips teeth 13 of an armature core 12 (angle per one pole is a magnetic pole pitch Pm), and the inductor 2 which is arranged facing the magnetic poles 16 via the air gap and the inductor teeth 3. The armature 11 is made a stator 10, and the inductor 2 is made a rotor 1. When two permanent magnets 17a, 17b are arranged in the magnetic pole per pole, the direction of the magnetization of one permanent magnet 17a is made to coincide with a rotating direction of the rotor, and the direction of the magnetization of the other permanent magnet 17b is shifted by an angle of 90 degrees from the direction of magnetization of the one permanent magnet 17a. The relation between the magnetic pole pitch Pm and an angle width Wb of the permanent magnet 17b is set as 0.3<=Wb/Pm<1.0.
