PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device with the good reproducibility of a picture at the time of printing. SOLUTION: An original picture which a scanner 1 reads is converted into digital data by an A/D converter 2 and is stored in a line memory 3. Picture data which are read and stored in separated into picture data of a binary area, picture data of a photograph area and picture data of a dot area by an image area by an image area separation processing part 4. Identification signals are given to separated picture data of the respective areas, and they are sent to a printer side 22. The image area determination processing part 7 of the printer side 22 determines the image area based on the identification signals. A processing corresponding to the determined image area is performed by a binary processing part 9, a pseudo halftone processing part 10 and a PWM part 11. A laser printer 12 is driven by an output pulse from the PWM part 11.
