PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a servo signal recorder capable of recording the highly accurate servo signal in which the fluctuation of the recording position caused by the run-out in feeding, etc., of a magnetic tape is not generated. SOLUTION: In this servo signal recorder for recording the servo signal on the long sized magnetic tape, the fluctuation is solved by providing a feeding means for feeding the magnetic tape in the longitudinal direction, a recording means for recording the servo signal on the magnetic tape fed by the feeding means, a detection means for detecting an edge of the magnetic tape when the servo signal is recorded by the recording means, and an adjustment means for adjusting the recording position of the servo signal made by the recording means in the width direction of the magnetic tape in accordance with the result of edge detection of the magnetic tape by the detection means.
