PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording and reproducing device using a plate-shaped parts position holding mechanism provided with a plate-shaped parts holding mechanism that can hold plate-shaped parts without requiring any additional parts, such as set screws, etc., nor any adhesive tape. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording and reproducing device is provided with a retaining mechanism. The mechanism is provided with guides A11a which position the plate-shaped parts 12 in a planar direction on a chassis 11 and a retaining arm 11b which is formed integrally with the chassis 11 by outsert molding and can be rotated freely against the chassis 11. The retaining mechanism can hold the position of plate-shaped parts 12 in the thickness direction by moving the retaining arm 11b to a position at which the arm 11b retains the upper surface of the parts 12 by rotating the arm 11b around its rotating shaft at the time of holding the parts 12 at a prescribed position.
