PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanner with a shredder function, which eliminates the need to bring back materials distributed at an event hall and transfers them to a specified destination in safety, and image read service which uses the scanner. SOLUTION: Image data are provided for a user 5 by using the scanner with the shredder function which has an image read means for reading a document, an image storage means for storing the read image data, an image data saving means for saving the stored image data, and a shredding means for shredding the document after the image data are stored. A server device 3 for mail delivery is connected to the scanner 1 with the shredding function through the Internet 6. The scanner 1 with the shredding function is equipped with a transmission destination input means for inputting a transmission destination to which the image data are sent. The server device 3 for mail delivery sends the image data stored in the image storage means to an electronic mail address inputted as the transmission destination to the transmission destination input means.
