PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical head device which is capable of performing high-speed reproduction by generating plural beams and simultaneously reading out the information of the plural tracks of the optical disk in reproducing an optical disk in spite of one optical head device and is capable of performing high-speed recording by generating the single beam of a high light quantity and writing the information to the optical disk in recording the optical disk. SOLUTION: The optical head device mounted with a polarizable diffraction element 102 having a diffraction grating made of high-polymeric liquid crystals and a polarizing element 101 having a liquid crystal layer grasped between transparent substrates with transparent electrodes in the optical path between a light source 1 and a beam splitter 2 is provided. |
