PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic reporting apparatus for checking any gas meter selected from among a plurality of gas meters for the communication failure with the gas meter, and for reporting the result to the information center for display. SOLUTION: The automatic reporting apparatus comprises a mode-selecting means 307A for selecting a plurality of modes which includes a normal operation mode and a meter selection mode; a meter selecting means 307B for selecting one of a plurality of gas meters 311 -31n , when the meter selection mode is being selected; a test instructing means 307C; a gas meter inspecting means 301a that communicates with one gas meter selected by a meter selection means 307B, in response to an instruction by a test instruction means 307C, when normal operation mode is selected, checks the presence or the absence of communication failure; and at the same time, reports the check result to an information center 1, and a display means 310 for displaying an inspection result by the gas meter inspecting means 301a.
