PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal that allows a user to be able to use various functions of the portable terminal without generating a radio wave in an area of a place such as a hospital where generation of a radio wave is forbidden. SOLUTION: The portable telephone 1 is provided with a sub switch 34 that can turn on/off power supplied to an RF section 30 so as to allow the user to stop only the RF section 30 in an area of a place where generation of a radio wave is forbidden and the user to use other functions than the function interlocking with communication. For example, when it is discriminated that the user of the mobile phone 1 is resident in the place where generation of a radio wave is forbidden on the basis of its current position ϕ1 obtained from a GPS unit 16, the user brings the sub switch 34 to an off-state and selects a non-communication mode M1. The communication function is inoperative in the non-communication mode M1, but the non-communication functions such as browsing of received mail and browsing of downloaded contents can be available so as to provide the mobile phone that is usable even in the place where generation of a radio wave is forbidden. |
