PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for performing backward error recovery. SOLUTION: Memory controllers (152a-152d) respectively accept a request for updating a check sum by using a data value identified according to the request. The memory controllers combine the check sum with those data values, and store the data values in memories. In one embodiment, the memory controllers store the data values in a plurality of stacks (252d1 , 252d2 ) based on which storage protection definition areas are associated with the data values. The memory controllers extract the stored data values, and combine the respective extracted data values with the check sum value. Thus, the previous state of the specific memory position can be restored. |
