PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method by which video recording can be reserved. SOLUTION: The communication section 33 of the video recording reserving device communicates with a video terminal through a public switched telephone network 5. The control section 30 of the device generates information on a program reserved for video recording based on the users' taste such as movies, sports, etc., and user information stored in a user information data base 35. Then the section 30 executes the reservation of video recording to the video terminal based on the generated information on the program reserved for video recording. The video recording reserving device can be applied to the video recording reserving device of a remote control system.
