PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single-phase induction motor which can reduce an electromagnetic vibrating force due to harmonic waves. SOLUTION: This single-phase induction motor has a stator 1, having a plurality of teeth 9 and a plurality of slots 11 formed between the respective teeth 9, stator windings wound concentratedly on the respective teeth 9, and a rotor which has a plurality of slots and cage-type secondary conductors laid in the respective slots and is turned by fluxes generated by the stator. Each slot 11 of the stator 1 is skewed by a prescribed angleθs at the tip part of the tooth 9 only, and each slot of the rotor is skewed in a direction different from the skew direction of the slot 11 of the stator 1.
