PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve stable drive by reducing write failure due to the erase failure of barrier electric charges in an erase period. SOLUTION: In this method of driving a plasma display panel in which a frame is time-divided into a plurality of sub-fields and each subfield consists of at least a write period, a sustaining period and an erase period, a small-width pulse having a positive potential is applied to a scanning electrode and a data electrode simultaneously in the cycle of once in every 1 to 30 frames in the erase period or in fields having high gradation.
