PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device which has a respiration filter and consists of simple constitution to substantially prevent the infiltration of dust and metallic corrosive gas into the device. SOLUTION: This magnetic disk device comprises a housing 8 in which a magnetic disk 2 and a magnetic head 4 are nearly hermetically housed and which has a respiration hole 36, a unit cover 60 which is disposed to face the respiration hole 36 and a dust filter 58 which is disposed between the unit cover 60 and the housing 8. The unit cover 60 is formed with a small hole 62.
