PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the interruption of monitor outputs to the outside of a device. SOLUTION: This recording device has first and second recording means 31 and 32 which are respectively capable of performing recording and monitor output in accordance with a common input 3 and switching means 8 for switching any among the respective monitor outputs and outputting the same to the outside of the device. The device described above is provided with means 12 for controlling the switching means in accordance with the state of the first and second recording means during the monitor output to the outside of the device. The control means controls the switching means in such a manner that the monitor output of the one recording means turns to be the monitor output to the outside of the device in the state that only either one of the first and second recording means performs recording in accordance with the common input.
