PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten discrimination processing and to improve the precision. SOLUTION: When paper moneys are received, they are conveyed to a temporary storage box while the discrimination results of the paper moneys are stored, sheet by sheet. When the amount is determined and the paper moneys are conveyed from the temporary storage box to storage boxes by the denominations, secondary discrimination is carried out as to only items of the stored discrimination results which are judged to be unclear. Consequently, the processing can be made shorter than when all the items are discriminated through the 2nd discrimination. The discrimination results are managed while made to correspond to the paper moneys conveyed to the storage boxes. The discrimination precision of payment can be improved by comparing the result of discrimination carried out in the payment with the stored discrimination result.
