A woven wire fabric has slits randomly disposed such that they extend across groups of the filaments forming the warp and weft. The fabric is then coated by being dipped in a plastics material such as a vinyl composition. The resultant material is capable of being extended or deformed and is suitable for conforming with the contour of a building when used as a flashing. The wire used in the fabric may be aluminium which is annealed and while still hot can be dipped in the plastics material. The slits are formed in the fabric by passing it between rollers having complementary knives and slots which interengage to slit the fabric in the desired manner.ALSO:A coated woven wire fabric has slits randomly disposed such that they extend across groups of the filaments forming the warp and weft and a coating of a plastics material such as polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polypropylene, asphalt, rubber. The wire used in the fabric may be metal e.g. aluminium, glass or plastics. The slits are formed in the fabric by passing it between rollers having complementary knives and slots which interengage to slit the fabric in the desired manner. The coating may be applied by casting, dipping, spreading, or knife coating. |
