PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device, which is given a gamma curve adjusting function adaptively to input gradation data to lose no gradation data and have a high contrast, and its driving method. SOLUTION: An image signal source outputs an RGB gradation signal for image display and a liquid crystal display module outputs one or more fixed- shape positive/negative polarity gradation voltages and one or more variable- shape positive/negative gradation voltages according to a gamma curve adjusted corresponding to the gradation signal to display an image. Consequently, a gamma curve which is manually adjusted can automatically be adjusted in the liquid crystal display module without any loss of gradation data adaptively to the gradation level of a screen and even when data for gamma curve adjustment are inputted, the gamma curve can be adjusted in the liquid crystal display module without any loss of the gradation data adaptively to the gradation level of the screen.
