Transport container for belted automatic ammunition has a rectangular outer sheet metal housing and shell parts of hard polystyrene foam with recesses to receive a longitudinal half of one or more cartridges on their belt members, forming pairwise surrounding shells for the cartridges. The shell parts and housing are dimensioned to fit closely together.
