The invention relates to a method and a device which are used to verify the availability of a signal component (s) in an input signal (x). The method consists in the following: a measure (fest) for the frequency of the input signal (x) is produced from said input signal (x); the variance of said measure (fest) for the frequency of the input signal (x) is determined; the variance (v) thus determined is compared to a given threshold value (LT); the availability of the signal component (s) is confirmed if the variance (v) lies within a given range with respect to the predetermined threshold value (LT). The availability of a signal component(s) in an input signal (x) can be determined quickly and easily, requiring only a few operations.The inventive method and device for carrying out said method are particularly suitable for use with mobile devices, e.g. hearing devices. |
